  • Me and Tom Pfeiffer (a volcanologist who who first showed me the volcanoes of Java) watching Semeru erupt.

  • Me and Semeru, I'm not as close as it looks, but Semeru is a big volcano and that is a big bang. Quite a buzz to be so close.
  • Sharing a cigarette. All the miners in Ijen smoke. Why not? It probably does them less harm than the volcano.
