Tawny Frogmouth
All these photos were taken near my house . The birds breed in spring and they have 1 to 4 chicks. The chicks often roost on branches very close to the ground which makes them very easy to photograph, and probably easy targets for predators. In spite of that they seem to thrive around people and will even wait around gas heaters in outside bars in pubs.
